Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam November 24

Vietnam’s IBF lightweight champion Dinh Hong Quân is in the best shape of his career for his upcoming clash with the Philippines’ Arnel Baconaje, and plans to do so in the early hours of the night. The HCMC-based prospect with a 9-1 record will contest the main event in front of a home crowd at The Grand Ho Tram Resort and Casino on Saturday, December 10.

The “Fortunes of War” show will feature many of Asia’s best, with fighters from the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

And despite a close and hard-earned victory in his most recent IBF Asia defense, Quân is absolutely confident that fans will see a much-improved performance in Ho Tram. The center of his confidence is an extensive training camp in General Santos City with the legendary Manny Pacquiao, who is training like hell for an exhibition match in South Korea next month. The boxer from Vietnam known as the “Black Hawk” cites the famous Filipino as a great source of knowledge and inspiration in his December preparations.

“I had to lose a lot of weight and I did it too fast for my last fight with Jules Victoriano. I have to admit he was a very tough opponent. But I feel in much better shape this time, my field has been good .and being able to train with a legend like Manny Pacquiao has helped me a lot.

A lot of people say it was a very close fight with the Filipino boxer last time, and it really was, but most people don’t know that I didn’t have a fight before that fight.

Everyone will see a much better Dinh Hong Quân this time, and I already know I will hurt Arnel Baconaje a lot. He’s a tough boxer with power and skill, but I’m going to break him.

It’s a very good match, and I’m very excited. I am very happy to have the challenge of stopping a top level fighter like Baconaje in front of my country. “

The Grand Ho Tram Resort and Casino has taken the initiative to make boxing big and glamorous in this part of the world and created a super support card.

Philippines’ top boxer Charly Suarez (13-0) takes on Indonesia’s best in Defry Palulu (25-2) for the IBF Asia super featherweight crown. With Suarez as the current WBA Asian champion and Palulu the WBC Asian champion, this IBF belt will decide who is the best in the region. Charly Suarez has already beaten the likes of Oscar Vvaldez and Joe Cordina into the fans, and his team have strong designs on a world title challenge in 2023.

The WBO is also represented by an Eastern Youth title, with undefeated South Korean prospect Chan-Ho Song (8-0) and Thailand’s destructive Anuson Thonglueang (12-1).

Song, 19, is emerging as perhaps the best young talent his country has produced in recent years, while his Thai counterpart has won 12 in the final after losing on debut. This 18-year-old star has incredibly eliminated 9 of these opponents since the pandemic!

Vietnam legend Nguyen Van Hai has won 10 national titles as an amateur, and the “Hanoi Hitman” has turned professional. He meets undefeated Indonesian Paisal Panjaitan (3-0) in a bout that pits youthful power and exuberance against experience and ring craft.

Local prospects from Vietnam also appear on the card against Filipinos Mark John Yap (3x OPBF Champion), JonJon Estrada (Philippines’ top-ranked featherweight) and Jetro Pabustan (a former WBO world title contender) in what will surely be an iconic one. boxing night at Ho Tram

Fortunes of War is brought to The Grand Ho Tram courtesy of VSP Promotions and Cocky Buffalo, and will be sanctioned by newly formed professional boxing regulator Vietnam Boxing Organisation.
